Saint Paul

Saint Paul was the greatest evangelist. Radically converted by the Risen Christ while on the road to persecute the Church and on fire with the Spirit, Paul tirelessly brought the Gospel to nations far and wide. Paul combined his passion and knowledge of the faith to spread the word of God, despite any opposition he faced. Saint Paul perfectly embodies the spirit of the New Evangelization – the same spirit we strive for in SSP.

Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati

Pier Giorgio, otherwise known as The Man of the Eight Beatitudes, was a young man who lived a dynamic Catholic faith in his daily life. Commonly referred to as the patron saint of young people, Pier Giorgio showed that you can live an energetic, adventurous life full of rock climbing, playing pool, and even struggling with chemistry class– all while sharing the faith with a youthful zeal. Pier Giorgio was tireless in his devotion to the Eucharist, attending Mass daily; to the Blessed Virgin Mary, seen praying the Rosary on any occasion at any place; and to serving the poor, often spotted carrying basic necessities to poor families and the homeless of Turin. At his funeral, 10,000 of Turin's poor greeted his casket as he was taken forth from the church. We aspire to mimic Pier Giorgio’s passion in our own lives as college students.

Pier Giorgio Prayer for Greatness:

"Heavenly Father,
Give me the courage to strive for the highest goals,
to flee every temptation to be mediocre.
Enable me to aspire to greatness, as Pier Giorgio did,
and to open my heart with joy to Your call to holiness.
Free me from the fear of failure.
I want to be, Lord, firmly and forever united to You.
Grant me the graces I ask You through Pier Giorgio's intercession,
by the merits of Our Lord Jesus Christ.
Amen."
